  1. Suzanne says:

I hadn’t seen these. I laughed my head off at the football player one, but then stopped when I realized I too weigh as much as some of them.

  2. I read the football story aloud to my husband–a former college football player–and we both giggled over the simlarities between this story and one that we experienced.

The same realization hit both of us at one point. He has not played football in 9 years–and those muscley pounds are still there–but no longer muscle…

I was a 3 sport varsity athlete (basketball, softball, soccer)–and now, could be a linebacker…

THanks for the giggle–glad to see where we can end up when we continue to make healthy choices! Our first weigh in is tommorow!

@Suzanne – It wasn’t a good feeling to realize I was that heavy. Don’t worry, with good old fashioned hard work you will get there!

@Thin – I’m glad you laughed and that your husband liked it too. Can’t wait to see how the weigh-in goes!

  4. Leah says:

I couldn’t laugh at either of these, but I’m glad you can now. How sad. I’ve been asked if I was pregnant in the past and laughed it off both times because I knew I was gaining weight. Yet they were by people I knew, not complete strangers and not often.

The linebacker one reminded me of the few times I’ve heard people tell me how huge they’ve gotten (I was a 14 !!! ) and that’s like my first goal. LOL !

Thanks for sharing things and keeping them in a positive light.

You’re right – it’s not funny to be asked those kinds of questions. I guess my point in posting these stories was to show that I’ve been there, know what it feels like, and offer hope and encouragement that things can change. One thing I really identified with your first goal! I know exactly what you are talking about! Thanks for your continued support and reading!

  5. Funny stuff! I’ve definitely thought about that before since I watch a lot of sports. … “I’m the same size as that guy! I could play football!” Ok, maybe not. LOL. It’s nice to view things in a humorous light.

  6. Diane says:

It’s probably a good thing you never tried to play football with the big guys – you might have gotten hurt! John and I still talk about the football player incident!
