When I hit 5,000 comments I really wanted to mark the occasion with something special, so I had a Fit to the Finish mug made. If you’d like it, just leave a comment telling me what makes you unique. If you’d like two chances Twitter it for me. The giveaway will close tonight at midnight my time. I’ll draw the winner randomly on Sunday night and post it on Monday. I know it’s just a small thing, but the thought comes from my heart. Diane

I am Unapologetically Myself even when it is certain not to win me any popularity contests.

I love to laugh! And I laugh at MYSELF even if no one else gets the corny joke. The corny-ness and I are one. Ahhhh….
I love the mug! Perfect for my me coffee journey. (gotta stay awake)

I don’t think I am ‘unique’ to be honest – just ordinary. I’m just continuing an everyday journey, with pretty ordinary struggles, that so many other people are on too. Reading other blogs and the comments from others really brings that home to me.
I do echo your comment about other people caring though. It is so valuable to have the support of people who really do ‘get’ what your journey is like. So, a big ‘thanks’ to all the caring and inspirational people (like you, Diane) out there.

I’m with Deniz. I don’t feel unique. I’m just part of the human race like everyone else. However, I do feel blessed!
Mia
very cute post and how nice of you to do your mug drawing. you have very loyal readers.
.-= vickie´s last blog ..I have had some form of the flu for a solid week. =-.
I wouldn’t say I am exactly unique but despite surgical menopause, two years of dealing with parental illness and death, and two injuries that sidelined me, I regained only 20 pounds instead of all my lost weight (58)and have lost that! And at 60 I can out walk and out lift most of my younger friends. So all you youngsters hang in there and Star Strong!
I love the mug and the idea…but I don’t feel unique either…
Hope a great unique person wins!!!!
Have a great weekend and congratulations on the 5 000 comments…I love you blog so can understand that many others do as well.

I love your mug! What a cool reminder of my lifetime goal -be “fit to the finish” and to see that every morning with the coffee that I shouldn’t be drinking -lol! T-shirt next please!
Well, I think what makes me unique, especially in today’s society and in my experiences, is that I can truly be happy for someone and their successes. Sadly, in my experience, I’ve seen many people act as if they are happy for someone, yet they are secretly competitive, comparing and insincere. I know they are dealing with their own insecurities, but I think it’s sad that some people can’t look beyond themselves.
Congrats on 5,000!!!
I am creative in the kitchen and passionate about sharing healthy-living tips with others.
You are terrific! Congrats on attracting such an amazing group of dynamic readers!

I am unique, and I think we all are, because I am me. My thoughts are different than yours and my beliefs may be as well.
Diane, I appreciate all you do.
Diane,
I’m in awe of you! What makes me unique is that I’m able to flow from All-Girl to Warrior-Chick back to All-Girl again in the blink of an eye. I’m a scary combination

How thoughtful you are! You have no idea what a blessing you are to me and many others.
It’s interesting that just before I came to the computer now, I was thinking that my emotional issues are in no way unique, nor are my patterns and responses. Yet, I know that there is no-one like exactly like me. There never was and there never will be (which is good to remember when one is planning to have kids!). Instead of feeling separated by that knowledge, it binds me closer to the whole of humanity.

What a great idea and congratulations on reaching 5,000! You have been such an inspiration! I have to lose 150, myself, so I can look to you for encouragement and motivation!
I think what makes me unique is all the talents I have. I can sing, act, write, sketch, I’m not afraid of making a fool of myself (I’m a mom and a clown), and I have learned how to make even the fattiest recipes into healthy ones: replacing, subtracting, and adding ingredients (which, in my book, usually makes things even tastier!), and my family loves it!
I’d LOVE the mug because you are not only an inspiration to me, but…on a daily basis….you challenge me, and help me go deeper within and work more on the inner mental core, which is where this whole “battle” lies. And for that, I thank YOU.
I am unique because at 58, I found my Inner Dancer, and now released, she’s led the charge in my changing my entire being for the better. Without my Inner Dancer demanding to be set free, this would never have happened!
.-= Sunny´s last blog ..Happy Hump Day! =-.
I love the mug and the idea!! What fun to have your blog title on a mug!!!
Let’s see… One way I am unique is that I’m a white girl, blonde hair, blue eyes, who has had a love for the spanish language since she was a child, took it in all four years of school, then married a bilingual Mexican who’s mother and extended family doesn’t speak English and I’ve learned to cook authentic Mexican food, including flour tortillas. Not what you’d find in an American cookbook or restaurant, but food he grew up with in Mexico. What I can make I’ve learned well enough his mother says I’m a good mexican cook.
I don’t know of many more like me out there… and the funniest part is I’m also in love with the victorian era and the 1900′s and all things “white”..like a house with a picket fence and chicken and dumplings, pot roast and mashed potatoes — which I also know how to make…keeps balance in the home… LOL
This could be fun just reading everyone’s comments! Great idea, Diane!

What makes me unique? I’m true to myself. (MizFit says this so much better!)
I am a midwife wanna-be who may go back to school when my kids are all grown up. Babies and pregnant women make me smile
Well,
To be honest, I can’t describe why I’m unique, I just think I am, as is everyone else, in their own way. Have a great weekend!

Let’s see, I am unique because I have two completely opposite sides. I am a busy and ambitious working woman AND a muffin baking, t-shirt ironing, hockey Mom… although that might qualify more as an identity crisis, than a unique-ness… LOL

I think your mug is the perfect give-a-way gift! (especially since my 1 cup of coffee in the morning is the one thing I will NEVER give up, and I cherish every sip of it lol)
Hmmm, I think I am unique because I write with my left hand, yet cut with scissors and play tennis with my right hand.
*Yet again, another great thought-provoking post…it took me 3 minutes to ponder on that one lol*

So thoughtful, Diane. Congrats on reaching 5000!
It’s comforting to know that even amongst all the differences we all have things in common. I have many passions…healthcare reform and fighting poverty probably top the list. Thanks for offering so much of yourself to us everyday.
Wow, 5000 comments – in such a short time! You really have reached a lot of people, Diane – thanks for coming onto the blog scene and sharing your story!
I don’t know what makes me unique…but I’m just glad to be me.

Hmmmm… what makes me unique. One of the things that makes me unique, but that I also have in common with you, is more than the average number of kids! I have six.
Part of the reason I love reading your blog so much is that I know I can’t use the usual excuses with you! You have all the same challenges that come with a large family, but you still manage your weight. It’s inspiring! So thank YOU!
Glad I could be part of what you are doing for others, Diane. Thank you!!
Diane, BIG CONGRATS on 5000 comments! You are amazing!!!
What makes me unique…. hmmmmmmmmmm, that I have 3 stepchildren when I did not even want children myself!
That I lift weights like I am 25 & keep pushin. I know that is not “unique” but I was doing this before a lot of other women were doing it….
Also, from way back when, I was fighting the typical standards for women even in high school in the early 70′s. I got some bad comments made at me but I stood my ground.
Everybody is unique, we all have something special but what it is that makes me unique? You’d better ask the hub and my best friends I suppose.
But I agree on Shelley who says she’s just happy being herself and that goes for me too.

What makes me unique? Well, a million things of course, but the first thing that comes to mind is that I am extremely openminded and can almost always understand/appreciate why someone might think the way they do (even if I disagree).

I am not unique – I’m not special. I am not even an inspiring success. But I have achieved one thing over the past few months. Despite life doing everything it can to upset me over the past 21 months – and it has been horrendous – I haven’t given into comfort eating . I have managed NOT to put on weight.

Diane, my uniqueness is evidenced in my path to healthiness. There is no one else out there who has followed a plan quite like mine, nor have I necessarily modeled it after any one other person. It is that uniqueness that makes us what we are.
Heading off to twitter this now – I need a new mug for my morning coffee!

How fun!
I think what makes me unique is that I LOVE to teach people things. Right now I think the bulk of the lessons being given are in knitting, but when my kids are old enough I cannot wait to teach them as well.
I wrestled with going for an MAT in college but I didn’t really want to be stuck in the public school system, and it was only after I met my husband that I realized I could be a perfectly good teacher without all the credentials, so I have since gone about teaching my hobbies to anyone interested and researching the heck out of homeschooling. That way I can do the TWO things I love – be at home AND teach

I feel like what makes me unique is being a child of God a part of His family. He gets me through the hard times by holding my hand and guiding me and is always there for me even in the good times. And because of this I am blessed.
He has truly blessed me through your weight loss journey and continues to do so. May He continue to bless you and all you do for His Kingdom!
Congrats on 5,000 comments — you and your blog are very inspirational!
What makes me unique? I’ve been sitting here for the last hour trying to answer that question, and it’s really tough. Then I realized it’s a question I’ve been trying to answer my whole life. So let’s just say that what makes me unique in the present is that I’m actively reinventing myself. I recently retired and am looking forward to my 60′s and discovering the next phase of my life.
Great job on 5,000 comments! What makes me unique? hard question… but what I like about myself is that I am a very positive person, which I think helps going through life with all its ups and downs in a healthier way.

congrats on 5000 comments, diane! and thank you so much for your blog, anyway: your posts really get me thinking about the reasons why i gained all that weight that i’ve now lost, and really help me figure out my own strategies for this new journey of maintaining.
as to being unique: i’m not that unique, really, just human. but there’s so much stuff i like about myself: my job, my dedication to my partner and friends, my determination, my love of running….

I believe that I am a born winner……………I accept no excuses. God has given me a second chance..probably more than that but I know when I weighed 305 pounds and was 59 and on 21 prescription meds….diagnosed with a blood clot in my leg I did not give up
I said no excuse is going to be stronger than me. No excuse of age, medical condition, physical health…………….I will say SO WHAT??? So what are you going to do to by-pass the problem. If you can’t remove it………..then can you go around it, over it ? Under it? or do something else.
So I started losing weight moving more moving more often, eating better, and now am 62 with 132 pounds off many meds less and I have 33 pounds to go to goal. I am a born winner. I will make it and the Fit to the Finish webemail reminders challenge me to never give up and don’t beat myself up…………..just keep going.
