I was the lucky winner of a YouBar Giveaway on Tricia’s blog. I was so impressed by their website, their products, and their company philosophy. I am so happy to be able to offer a review of the products they sent me, and offer one of you a chance to win a gift certificate good for any YouBar product on their website. (FedEx ground shipping included!)
First the review:
In my packet I received:
3 YouBars in the following flavors: Honey Cashew, Great Date With Chocolate, and Breakfast Bar.
3 Breakfast Shakes, flavors Breakfast Shake and Vanilla
3 Trail Mixes in the flavors Chocolate Trails (2) and Mix Up Your Day
Being the relatively generous mom/wife that I am, I thought it would be fun if the whole family tried everything and gave our two cents.
First we tried the bars. All I have to say is yum, yum, yum. I’ve been a fan of Lara Bars for a long time, and was wondering how these would compare. They were very different from those bars. The Great Date with Chocolate and the Breakfast Bar both looked like brownies when we opened the packages. We tried the Breakfast Bar first, and the older four loved it. It was chocolately, cinnamony, and had a touch of coffee. I can see where it would wonderful with a little cup of happy coffee. The Great Date With Chocolate was hands down the favorite. The chocolate was fresh tasting, and the texture was perfect. The Honey Cashew was John’s favorite. It had a different texture than the chocolate bars. It was a little bit softer with puffed rice inside. The flavor hit you after you had had it in your mouth for a second, and it was very pleasant. Yum to all three flavors!
Of course the Chocolate Trail Mix and the Mix Up Your Day trail mixes were something we’ve tried similiar products of before. The difference between these mixes and the ones we’ve bought from the grocery stores was the fresh taste of the ingredients. These mixes tasted like they were just prepared – and they were! The Mix Up Your Day one had goji berries and coconut flakes both of which made it fabulous and unusual at the same time. These mixes got two thumbs up from every one of us.
I’m generally not a protein shake person, probably because I don’t like milk, but I was game to try these. We mixed it up in a mixing bowl with a whisk, but a blender definitely would have been faster. We all liked them. The chocolate (Breakfast Shake) had a great banana chocolate smell and taste, and the Vanilla Dream tasted a bit like white chocolate. Everyone except for my four year old liked these shakes and he hardly likes anything so he totally doesn’t count!
So wouldn’t you like to try some of these great products? I knew you would. There are two ways to try them. One, you can buy some from the YouBars website, and two, you can win this fabulous giveaway.
How to win? Click over to the YouBars website and then come back and leave me a comment telling me which of their products you would most like to try. That’s it! I’ll leave comments open until Tuesday (tomorrow) at midnight CST. Then I’ll draw the name using a Random Number Generator and notify the winner by email. The winner has two days to get back with me. If I don’t hear from them within two days I’ll draw another number! The only sad thing about this giveaway? There is only one winner, and the contest is only open to those living in the United States. (Sorry to my foreign based friends.)
Want another chance? Twitter this giveaway using @fittothefinish and leave a separate comment telling me you did!
I know you will love these products as much as I did! Diane

I’m not a big fan of these types of products because of their calorie density and the advantages of volumetric eating. That said, this brand is probably one of the better ones that are on the market, and if you are careful with portion control can be part of a weight loss/control plan. No I did not copy that off the back label, I just made it up
I would love to try the breakfast bar!!!

I had no idea they made cookies and trail mix! I had only looked at the bars and now I have more to wish for
I would get the Mix Up Your Day – sounds amazing! I was also really impressed that you can get alternative sweeteners in the cookies. My littlest is diabetic and we use honey and agave nectar at home but don’t see it in commercial foods as often as I like. That really impresses me.
Stacy
