I do so much better when I plan. Even if the plan gets changed, there is something about having a plan that prevents a "free for all" approach to meals...

Oh my goodness, I have to credit so much of the success I've had to planning and prepping my foods- if I don't prep them at the beginning of the week they won't get eaten at all. It can be tedious to plan and prep- but OH SO WORTH IT!

There is definitely a direct link between planning ahead and staying on course with the weight loss. There's no argument there. I don't always do it like I should, but I do recognize the importance of it, and suffer the consequences when I don't do it.

I could go on forever! Mostly though, I just love going to the store once, having everything I need, cooking once a week and having a fridge full of fabulous, portion-controlled, home-cooked meals to choose from. Yes, i'm HOOKED on meal planning!!

I am lost without a plan. Sundays, I plan the meals and grocery shop. Then, we usually follow the plans (and yeah, some days we just don't feel like it and eat Tuesday's on Friday, etc). Last week I didn't get to the grocery store because of all the crazy, and we ended up with a lot of takeout. I feel MUCH better with food in the fridge and a plan...

For me, it's not so much planning, but having a back-up plan (or two). If time or some other plan-wrecker comes along, I have "pre-approved" options: tuna, pb & banana, or soup from the freezer...OR I can grab the car keys and head to Jason's Deli or one of the Mediterranean restaurants down the street, where I also have "pre-approved" items for ordering. (No willy-nilly let's get what looks good ordering for me! That way lies danger! :))

I think I would be 800 pounds without planning. I really don't "get" it when people go out to eat every day or never know what's for dinner when they walk in the door. I am all about meal planning and packing. So important and VITAL to my success. And sanity!

Meal planning has saved my dinner-time sanity! I plan for the week ahead, and write my grocery list as I plan. I'll get input from my family - which really helps too. And like you, sometimes we have Wednesday's meal on Monday - I'm not such a stickler about when we eat it, but I like knowing I have options depending on what's going on that day. I'm currently trying to expand my plan to cover all meals for the week, not just dinners but breakfast and lunches too. It has really helped for those times when I get a little hungry but knowing that I am having fruit and cottage cheese in a half hour helps keep the munchies at bay!

I definitely think planning dinners helps. Back in my college days, I never planned what I was eating that night. I also spent most nights eating out.

It wasn't until I got married that I turned around. I do most of the cooking, but we plan our meals together. That way, we can agree on something we both like and only go out, on average, once a week.
