Another Year to Get it Done

I honestly cannot believe that it is 2011. Honestly, I’m glad that 2010 is over. We had a major tragedy this year, and even though I’ll never be the same, seeing the calendar slide over to 2011 makes me realize that no matter what has happened the year before, 2011 can be a chance to accomplish some things I didn’t quite get done last year.

Some of my goals for this year include:

Working with my oldest four boys on improving their handwriting.

Spending quality time with all my immediate family.

Strength training every other day in some fashion. (This is an on-going goal)

Watching the family budget even more closely.

Expanding the number of 5K’s I do to an all-time high of . . . . three. (Small goal I know!)

Self-publishing my book at some point this year.

There are my main goals. I don’t like to call them resolutions because I never seem to follow through with resolutions with any success. But a goal seems more attainable to me – more flexible – and easier to work at all year long.

No matter where you were at the end of 2010, and how close or far away you were from meeting your personal goals, 2011 is a new year for you. Each day when you wake up, decide what you will do to help you reach the one goal that is most important to you. Then take a step to accomplish that one thing. Day by day – this is another chance to get it done.

Do you set goals for the new year? Diane

I am so sorry for your loss, Diane.

While I don’t do resolutions, I do set some goals and develop a theme for the year. I want to ride my bike 1200 miles this year (my second year riding). That’s my physical (body) goal. My mind goal is to live more authentically.

Wishing you a wonderful year and success in each of your goals.

I totally hear you on the goals vs resolution thing. Resolutions sound so “written in stone.” My only goal this year is to set manageable daily goals. We’ll see how that works.

    Happy New Year, Diane!!!

  6. Love your goals Diane.. family, life, health!

I wrote about my no resolutions take on things & how I go forth each year in my post today…. fluid for me.

Let us hope 2011 is a great one!

Just today I posted about how I don’t make resolutions. But, yes, I do have goals.

  8. I don’t set goals since mine are pretty big and hard to forget (regain my health!) but they’re always there.

Also, isn’t impossible-to-read handwriting a sign a person is qualified to be a doctor? ;)

I too do goals rather than resolutions. This year I’m doing quarterly goals. I have four very concrete health related goals for this first quarter and I think they will help to keep me focused.

I think your goals are great! I look forward to reading that book.

I have an ongoing list of goals at the moment, so no 1st January resolutions in the strict sense of the definition, no. But I did haul the list out and review it :)

  21. Fran says:

Love your goals, especially the one about publishing your book.

I don’t call them resolutions either but goals. And yes I have them, mostly on the exercise front but also getting enough sleep, floss every night :) and make sure Bella gets enough exercise every day.

  22. John says:

Unlike last year I haven’t made any goals/resolutions yet. Well other than completing 40 races :)
I just feel like I’d be wasting my breath right now to set some. Maybe 40 races is enough?!

there is a lot of merit in self publishing. I had a line of quilting patterns (sold nationally) which I self published, so I can relate.

The link above talks about Pasta Queen’s current book being handled through a local book store. She did not self publish, but is handling direct orders/signing through the local store. This is very smart. I thought I would pass it on as an idea for you.

hope all is well and you are just very busy. not like you to disappear.
