I’m Here Today

Today, I’m at the Sabra hummus plant in Richmond, VA as part of their Tastemakers Panel!! There are 9 blogs represented, and I’ll tell you more about my trip when I get back. Here’s a picture of the plant. You can check my facebook page or twitter feed for updates throughout the day!

When I first lost weight, I wouldn’t have know what hummus was if I stepped in it or saw it on a buffet. However, over the past few years, I became acquainted with the wonderful world of hummus. I didn’t realize that Sabra hummus was a subsidary of PepsiCo (as is Frito-Lay) until I was at the Frit0-Lay blogging event. I had purchased Sabra hummus many times as I really like it. Even my kids enjoy it. (Well, except son number four, who doesn’t like much of anything!)

I’m looking forward to sharing all the details of my trip on Friday, and also happy to tell you that I will have a giveaway in the future!

Do you enjoy hummus?  Diane

I’m with you. Before I started my healthy journey, I too would not have known what hummus was if I saw it. Nowadays this is my favorite with any meal :)

Love, love love hummus ! Makes a great mayo substitute on a sandwich, and if added to a grilled cheese , a definite improvement. Some also have found mixing equal parts of hummus and peanut butter to be a way to enjoy peanut butter with a lesser calorie hit.

I’ve only tried it once but I wasn’t sure whether I really liked it or not. I need to give it a try again to really see. There are so many different varieties that it is hard to know which to choose.

Sorry, I just can’t seem to climb up on that hummus bandwagon. I just don’t like it. Which is kinda sad since I go to a church with a LARGE middle eastern population!
The hummus comes out at every potluck…and I just stay away.

Maybe I just to try the right kind of hummus…

I love Hummus. I really like the Red Pepper flavor. I have wanted to make my own and it is nice to see others doing it to.

  21. Amy says:

I LOVE hummus!!! but I nearly always make it myself, so I can control how much oil goes into it. My go-to recipe is: one can of chickpeas, 4 t tahini, 2 garlic cloves, juice of half a lemon, salt and pepper to taste. I just puree it all in my blender and I’m ready to go.

When I am in the US I do like to try some of the more exotic flavors Sabra makes…

Wow!! Sabra spinach and artichoke hummus from Costco is my newest most favorite thing. My 17 year old daughter and I fight each other for the last drop. For some reason I like it a lot better than the regular, but I may need to try the regular again sometime. I am looking forward to your report on the Sabra plant…that would be fun!

  24. I love hummus. I find any reason to put hummus on my food.

  25. Wow…that looks like tons of fun! And I loooove hummus. I’ve even taught the kids to enjoy it.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I hope you’ll come back again :) I’m going to go and snoop around your site now.

I love hummus. I make it fresh at home so I can control the ingredients and serve it with vegetables instead of pita because I choose not to eat wheat but occasionally I have it with rye crisp. Garlic is starting to give me trouble (Anyone remember Helen Hays line about garlic in the movie Airport?)
